National PTSD programs and resources for veteran
There are several national programs and resources available to support veterans dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD):
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
The VA offers specialized outpatient care for PTSD at every medical center, including evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For severe symptoms, the VA provides live-in Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (MH RRTPs). Additionally, Vet Centers offer free and confidential counseling. TeleMental Health services are available for virtual appointments. The VA also has specialized coordinators and managers to connect LGBTQ+ veterans and women veterans with tailored care. The VA Caregiver Support Program assists family members caring for veterans with PTSD
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)
WWP's Warrior Care Network® partners with medical centers for intensive two-week treatment programs for various mental health challenges, including PTSD. Project Odyssey® is a 12-week adventure-based learning program, and WWP Talk provides one-on-one telephonic support
